If it has high mileage, all I can suggest is a tune up. Otherwise, you can't make a vehicle have better gas mileage. It's pretty much impossible. There is a thing called driving slow and steady and there is flooring it wherever you go. Lay off the gas pedal, brake sooner on full stops and use cruise control if you have it. Otherwise, get another vehicle.

A Ford f-150 will solve your problem...and give a hell of a better truck too, both in looks and reliability..

Tape a raw egg to the gas pedal and try not to break the egg with your foot when driving. That will increase your gas mileage by 5-10%.
