what size wheels does the 2008 Prius have?

My car needs snow tires.































The old tires are size P185/65R15, but the shop asked for the wheel size instead. The manual unhelpfully lists both 15x6 and 16x6 (as well as two tire sizes).































Does the R15 mean it is on a 15" wheel?

R means radial tire, 15 = 15 inch wheel

The 2008 wheel info is: PCD 100mm, offset 45mm, 5 holes, 6 inch nominal rim width































PCD is the diameter of the bolt circle.































Offset is how far the "disk" of the wheel is from the centre of the rim width.































P185/65R15 is the tire size.































P means P metric (as opposed to European metric--there are slight differences that most folks ignore)































185 is the nominal section width in millimetres. The tire is measured on the "measuring rim" at the widest part.































65 is the aspect ratio (%) of the section height over the section width.































R means it's a radial tire































15 is the nominal rim diameter in inches.































There is one other marking that completes the tire size: 86S































86 is the load index to determine what the tire will carry (there is a table). Replacement tires need to have at least this number.































S is the speed rating (another table).
