Default is 2009 toyota camry/corolla safe to drive?
I have my eye set on a 2009 toyota camry, i forgot the model but i was to it gets 21/31 mpg. the dealer has it for a good price. I am also looking the at corolla the same year around same price.































Are they safe cars. my moms is worried that the car i get will take off on me because of the recalls.















I do know that they are very reliable cars which is why i am looking towards one because I plan to keep for years to come.

Most of the "sticking accelerator" problems were due to people hitting the gas instead of the break or other driver errors... you have nothing to worry about.

I just drove 6 hours in one, hated every minute of it. I suppose it depends on how you define "safe." Do you want a car that doesn't accelerate up hills, has a transmission that behaves like a child with ADD, and handles like a cement mixer?

I would do a little research and find out exactly which vehicles were the "problem" cars that made the news. Personally I wouldn't hesitate to buy a car if you like it. There are lots of things that could cause accidents (tire blowing out, brakes failing, stuck accelerator, etc) so I think knowing what to do in each of those sitiuations would be the safest thing you could do. You can probably find a lot of useful information on what to do in each of those situations on youtube.com where people have uploaded videos to help with safe driving. good luck
