How much is a transmission fluid change ?

i drive a 2004 toyota solora with about 62000 miles on it... last week i went for an oil change and the guy told me that i needed a transmission fluid change cuz mine was almost black and its supposed to be pink... i asked how much did it cost... and he told me about 100 bucks... is that a good price or should i look for some other place?

Look for another place. Those high school drop puts will say anything to sell their product/services. Transmission fluid will not turn black. Maybe very dark red. Those oil change places are not a good place to have that work done. Only Toyota or Aamco trans should touch your car. A specialist in transmissions is needed b/c their is a huge differences in transmissions. Besides, if your car shifts just fine for now, then it is fine. Many of these fluids are synthetic and while they will change color over time, that doesn't mean it's bad.

120 bucks. look in the Manual when it needs changing. Does it smell burned ?

I change my Camry's fluid every 60 000ml

I have a fluid suction device that sucks the engine oil out of the dipstick tube, I use it to suck out the transmission fluid from my Corolla too. It only sucks out about 3 L of the 6 L that is in the transmission, so I do this procedure twice, one at one oil change, then I do it again a few months later at the next engine oil change. Three 1-L containers of Toyota Transmission fluid is only about $30, so doing this twice cost me $60 ( Canadian dollars ). This is just for the transmission fluid, no other costs. So if you want to do it yourself then go ahead and pump it out, for about $60 just for the cost of the fluid alone.
