In these cases you really need to know if the engine will run on starting fluid. I like to spray for a couple seconds onto the air filter then close up the air cleaner box to trap the fumes. If the engine fires up for a moment you know the problem is all in the fuel delivery. If not, it's time to check the ignition timing. I'm pretty sure your engine has a long life timing chain, but it is still possible for the chain to jump. That will retard the ignition timing about 20 degrees - more than enough to keep the engine from starting.
