Still having a problem with my 99 4Runner?

A while back i posted this problem with my 4runner and since then it was doing ok and now its acting up again. A few months back i lost almost all power in DRIVE, pedal on the floor and it would on go about 30mph. I had my buddy bring his computer home from work and it said the Throttle Position Sensor was bad. I replaced the TPS over this weekend, and it ran fine when i test drove it and the check engine light shut off. Then my wife drove it to work that night and it acted up again, sputtering, almost no power and check engine light came on again. Im thinking maybe a tune needs to be done or maybe the throttle body is bad. Has anyone had this problem with thier runner before?

Scan the vehicle and list the codes.

i had a toyota celica, try throttle body cleaner first , then mass airflow sensor then if that doesnt do it it may be a catalytic converter issue as mine had one similar to your issue and o2 sensors and catalytic converter and almost 1 grand later it fixed it also as before list all codes the car has in computer and we will be able to get more specific

V4 or V6?

For V6:

my parents have an 99 4runner and it did the same thing. i've change the TPS, spark plugs, the 3 plug wires(the other 3 is coil pack), and clean the MAF, and now its fine. When ur doing the plugs just unhook the battery so that when ur done the ecu will be reset. maybe this might happen or not but when u first start the car after the plug change, it might start to feel like its goin to die after a few seconds, so just rev it a little until its back to normal. then let the car idle for about 10-15 min before taking it out for a test drive.

spark plug change should just take about an hour or less if u know what ur doin and how to get to them. when ur doing the plugs this is a good time to cleaned the throttle body and MAF.
