There are only 3 major manufacturers of lead acid car batteries in the US. They are JCI, Exide, and Delphi. JCI is Johnson Controls Inc. JCI sells batteries under the Interstate and Optima name, Exide under its own name and Orbital, and Delphi under its own, but it used to be Delco. All 3 also make batteries for everybody else. For instance I have a Delphi made Wal-Mart EverStart in front of me as I type this. My local store is now selling JCI made ones, and I have seen Exide ones there before.
I wouldn't worry about the brand but instead about the free replacement (not pro-rated) warranty length, the longer the better made it usually is.
