Turning the ignition off would be a good way to stop the car. If you have a car with a 'sticky' pedal, take it to a mechanic and have the accelerator cable lubricaed or replaced.

Many cars today have an accelerator override that will stop the motor when the accelerator and brake are applied at the same time.

You could always put the car in neutral and let the engine blow. NO one would fault you for that.

i read an article where they tested one of the lexus models on a racetrack. the stunt driver jammed the accelerator pedal down and then with his other foot jammed the brake pedal down. With both pedals down, the car slowed to a stop

the state trooper whose family was killed in the lexus, said he pressed the button many times but the car wouldnt die, he didnt know you have to hold it for three seconds. He tried to put it in neutral, but newer cars dont have the normal "push the lever forward" to go into neutral, the toyotas have an awkwardly designed pattern.

Dont u think if all u had to do was, push the brake, or turn off the key 45 people wouldnt have died so far.
