My 1994 toyota camry died on me. What could be the problem?
i was driving down the road and i noticed my speedometer was off by 25-30 mph. There is no way i was driving 65 down a 45mph zone. Then, my car like... missfired? then it died on me. I am not sure what it could be. the car does start but once ive been driving it for a few min, it will just cut off. Anyone have any ideas? im thinking.. starter? alternator? battery? or even a fuel pump? i hope its not the fuel pump. Suggestions please. Thanks
The reason could be any number of things. Take it into a shop. It's an old car now. It may need some new parts or a belt. The alternator could be the problem (unfortunately, it's kind of expensive to have fixed), but then your car would still run, it just wouldn't move much. That happened to my 1993 Chevy Beretta and it was over $1K to have fixed. Those things happen with older cars though.
When is the last time you had your fuel filter replaced. might be your fuel pump. Try this to see if it is your fuel pump. Have some one in your car and turn your car on and do not start it. then the other person with the gas cap off puts one ear on where the gas goes into listens for like a swirling sound. If it makes that sounds it may be good.
replace your igition coil if you have never done so,,they get hot and expand and there is a crack in it so its starts acting funny,,,trust me ive seen this many times
