I have learned not to care about how a car looks. The most exotic car I had was a 1969 Lotus Europa S2, and it was one of the most troublesome. Next in the beauty pageant was the 1984 Nissan 300ZX, also a nightmare to own. In contrast, our two 2002 Prius are easily the most reliable cars we have ever owned. (They are also almost indistinguishable from the 4-door Ford Focus of that year - they are sedans.)
You must be young. I can certainly recall uglier cars, including the Isetta, the VW Thing, AMC Gremlin, AMC Pacer.
