so this is a 4x4. and a daily driver.
IMHO,
i'd leave the gears the way they r. with the 5 speed you should get good mileage on the 35's if you drive it right. in 4low you should be plenty capable for light mudding and crawling.
i would address the top end power issue from a different angle. 20r head with a cam and header.

with a four banger 22r and a long stroke, there's really no practical way of having the best of both worlds. it's all about compromises and your target goals.
