Difference between 1986 Toyota RN56 vs. RN55 truck?

My VIN states my 1986 Toyota 2WD EFI SR5 Extra cab short bed is a RN56, but I have yet to see any truck parts for a RN56. There are parts for a RN50, RN55, RN70 and RN71. I double checked and it is RN56. Not sure what, if any, diference a RN56 is from RN55?































I need to buy a new muffler (Bosal) and even their data base does not state RN56 and no short bed SR5 model mufflers.















Thanks. That Bosal part number is for a 4WD RN60/61 and mine is a 2WD short bed RN56 which I think is same as truck as the RN 55. I went to Bosal home page and they had a variety of mufflers listed, but none of them seemed to be for my extra-cab short bed truck.































Thanks for the electronic repair manual. I did get the official Toyota thick orange shop manual when I bought the truck new in 1986. It even doesn't list any RN56, only RN50/55, but I think as long as it is in the 50 series then it will fit.































I think the RockAuto WALKER Part # 46920 for 112 inch wheelbase is the correct one.















Not Cal. I've replaced the O2 before and need the Cat for VA State inspections. Muffler is a single welded one piece from Cat to tailpipe and Bosal was the only manufacture I could find at time. I now see Walker has one too. Whole system is rusted, muffler and tail pipe, so for $100 I can install a complete welded unit w/factory brackets. This will be 3rd muffler. Cheaper and better than local muffler shop piece parting.

wondering why u were stuck on BOSAL. hence the cali Q. because you prolly know your truck's one o2 is b4 the cat. so you truck don't care.































i just buy a quality walker outta a local parts store, then 30 bucks(+- a pizza) at local welders/muff shops. in/out.































i don't think 4x4 app on a *muff* is a factor in itself. we're both the same back there. around the cat would be an issue. xfer case n all. but if you ordering online, to b sure, i see your point.
