Default Is a 1993 Toyota Corolla a reliable car?
I am going to purchase a 1993 Toyota Corolla, it has 217,000 miles on it. But looks like it only has 50,000 on it. How reliable is a 1993 Toyota Corolla? What are the chances of it lasting another 217,000 miles or more? I know that is alot of miles, but every review that I read, everyone is talking about how great older toyota corolla's are. I have read many reviews of 1993 toyota corolla customers having 400,000+ miles with no problems on the car, except normal wear and tear such as brakes and rotors etc... Is $2,000.00 a good deal for a 93 with that many miles on it? Please give me detailed answers, I'm hoping that these are good cars as the great reviews i have read.thanks

A 1993 Toyota Corolla is a very reliable car but with over 200,000 miles the car will start to nickle and dime you to death. Take a good look at the condition of the body and take it to a mechanic to look over the engine, trans, brakes and wheels. At this point it's the little things that are going to start to go wrong (wheel bearings, oil seals, heater cores, starters, etc) and once you fix one thing, something else will break. Find out what the previous owner had done to the car as far a maintenance and talk to a few mechanics on what could be done to extend the life of the car. Two thousand bucks isn't a bad deal for the car but I don't think I'd be planning on another 200,000 plus miles on it without some serious engine/transmission/drivetrain rebuilds.

I agree with Just Me except $2000 sounds a lot for an 18 year old with that mileage.Here in the UK it would be £5-800.About $1000 & a bit?

Great car but no wholesale or retail value...Id give 800-900 and get ready for anything to happen.But if u can have it checked out for oil pressure, oil consumption, smoking, funny sounds and leaks..
