2004 Sienna battery problem?

Battery had to be jumped..post were removed and cleaned and re clamped..better was tested at 406 cca..it was left to run but then started idling low and cut off..computer said the battery should be replaced..even with a jump if the battery is shot will the car idle low and cut off. No previous electrical problems at all..

It sounds like you have a bad alternator. Its a really easy fix. If you know what it is it isn't rocket science on how to get it out. Find like 2 or 3 bolts and it comes out. Getting it back in is a little harder you will see a wheel that is spring loaded it will probably have a half inch square that you can use a ratchet on put the ratchet in the hole in the side and pry it one way or the other. That will give you slack to get the belt back on. If you go to auto zone they might have a special tool to use. Or if worse comes to worse find something to pry it up youll figure it out they always do. Take the alternator to auto zone and they will test it for free. You don't even have to take it out of the car.

The car needs some ""juice"" (battery power or alternator power) to run.

Even with everything off - it still needs some ""juice"" -

IF ? The alternator is not charging ? and the battery is too low ? the car will die.

In most cases - you should be able to take one terminal off the battery while the car is running.

Making sure not to let the terminal touch anything - best to rap the terminal in a cloth or rubber.

If the car cuts off ? It is most likely the alternator -

If you got a boost ? The battery is charged up just a little bit - so the car will run for a little while.

If the Alternator is charging ? The car will run with no battery at all.
