Default Toyota 4runner 2001 computer replacement cost? ?
I took my car to the dealership (never usually do) and I have to replace my "computer". They will charge me $1750. Am I being taken advantage of? The junkyards currently don't have what I need... therefore can't take it to another mechanic. Should I wait or go ahead with the dealership?

Firstly get a second opinion, secondly have you tried Ebay? Alot of Junkyards sell their stuff on Ebay these days. I've seen alot of ECU's on there. Some will even have it Fedex'd to you. The Dealer is more like a Stealer an a$$ reamer ok.. stay away from them. Yes they know their stuff but they also know how to pad the bill too if you know what i mean. If you can wait then wait otherwise buy some lube.

Not really sure if you are being taken advantage of. I had a 1990 Toyota Camry DX. It needed a new computer. The dealer wanted if i remember correctly a little over $600. Thank god i found one at a junk yard for $110.00 and it worked. This happened over three years ago.
