Default toyota camry hybrid advices...?
hello, I just bought a 2008 toyota camry hybrid. And it has 98000 miles on it. I know it a high mileage but its cheaper so...















And I know that there is warranty of 100k miles for the battery of hybrid engine. So I need some advices about keeping that car or not. Because I dont want to drive couple months and buy a $5000 battery for it.















Does anyone have to replace their battery? at which miles?

You replace the battery when it fails, unless you just want to spend a bunch of money before you have to. The life of the battery is most influenced by number of charge/discharge cycles, rather than miles on the car. The 100k warranty is a protection for you against your battery failing up to 100k miles. It is not a content that is consumed and depletes because the tires rolled that far. Take the car in to have its battery inspected to get the best evaluation of its condition.

Not necessarily, toyota hybrid batteries are reliable, I've seen some prius go past 160K miles and still running strong (2004). Just maintain your car properly at the dealer and you'll be fine!

The hybrids Toyota has made since 2004 should never need a replacement hybrid battery. The earlier hybrids, up to 2003, used a less rugged battery that had a noticeably higher failure rate after 200K miles. My 2002 Prius has 144K miles and no sign of battery weakness while my wife's 2002 Prius has 110K miles, also with the battery going strong. Your battery should do much better.
