What does 5-speed Sequential Manual Transmission mean?
Hi guys,
I am looking at buying a Toyota MR2 Spyder 2001 and I was wondering what it is meant by 5-speed Sequential Manual Transmission and whether I can drive it on my Automatic license.
The license means I can only drive Automatic cars and therefore if the MR2 is considered a manual it will be illegal for me to drive unless I go do the test again.
Thanks, Matt
So there is no way to shift into an "auto" spot in the transmission? It's always up 1 down 1 manually
lever returns to neural on its own, two movements up and down. move up, 1st gear, move up again 2nd gear, move up again 3rd gear, move down twice 1st gear. very like what they use in wrc world rally cars.
My girlfriend had a newer type MR2 spyder with the sequential manual tranny. Basically, this is like an autostick or some call a clutchless 5 speed. There is no clutch but you still have to manually shift into the right gear and you can only shift one under or one over the current gear + or - (why they call it sequential). I live in the US and have a class C license which is good for any personal car (auto or manual).
