2000 Echo makes squealing noise!
I have a 2000 Toyota Echo that makes a persistent squealing noise when in drive. I took it to the dealership a month ago and the mechanic wasn't able to duplicate the noise it was making. They decided the best thing to do was replace all the belts and put in a new battery. The battery was old and failing when they tested it.
Now it's a month later and the noise is back worse then before. A friend mentioned that it might be the bearing in the alternator itself going bad.
Does anyone know if that could be it? And if so how much the repair would cost me?
I have no ability to do it myself. And I just relocated to a new area so I don't know any reputable independent mechanic to take it to. At this point it would have to go to the dealership if the repair needs to be done right away.
Thanks for any help.
