Replace your spark plugs and wires also do a fuel injection clean up. Make sure your air filter and throttle body is clean too. In other words take you car for a spin again and check the mpg I made a little chart for you see your cars fuel consumption.

To check mpg fill your gas up to maximum. Pick the model of you car above, and drive 16,18,17,19 miles (so if you have a 07 highlander AWD 6cyl then you will drive 16 miles) in the city then go to a gas station fill up and if you get up to 4 liters or less for a full tank then your car is burning fuel the way it's suppose to.
