the 3VZE came in an 88. but,
the R & RE engines have different bell housings than a 3VZE. and obviously different wire harnesses.

FYI,
you will be sorely disappointed with the 3VZE. you will be able to go 90mph all day, but everything else will be a draw back. it won't give you that much more of an advantage because the hp of the VZE motor doesn't fully off set the added weight. mpg won't be significantly better either.
if i could start over, i'd have the 88 with sas, 22r or re engine with 20 heads, cam, and headers.
