It depends on how well it's been taken care of. I had a 95 with almost 300,000 miles on it when it was totaled in a wreck. I drive a 98 corolla with over 300,000 on it now and it's going strong. if you get a good price on it then i would go for it.
I wouldn't advise you to get anything over 10 years and that has 180k miles on it. It really comes down to the maintenance history of the car. More money spent by the owner could mean less money you have to shell out or less money spent by the owner could mean you'll be getting a ticking time bomb. However you translate that there is one thing i will recommend to you have a local mechanic look at it before you buy and get their opinion. Corolla's are not bad they will drive till the wheels fall off but it all depends on the amount of TLC the previous owner gave it.
