New brakes for a '03 Corolla?

Default New brakes for a '03 Corolla?
I went to get my car inspected and they said I have pretty much nothing left on my front break pads, both sides. So it wont pass inspection.































The place I usually go to for my oil change and basic maintenance quotes me an estimate of $315 parts $250 labor. I called around and found a shop that can do it for $220 total.































I would really like to save the $300 but with brakes I don't know what they would be doing at the second shop to get it so cheap.































I don't really know much about breaks so:















Are there different quality brakes? Like, if I use cheaper ones will i not slow down as well? or would they just not last as long?































I have people who have gone to the cheaper guy and haven't had problem. I just don't know if its a case of "you get what you pay for" Thanks

There are different types of break pads.































Ask around and get opinions from other people.































The price of break pads start out in the $20.00 range up to $50.00 per front and/or rear.















Are the rotors grooved? Are the calipers worn?































Get a broken down estimate and the type of warranty before you make your mind up.
