how can i improve the performance of my Toyota Tercel?

Default how can i improve the performance of my Toyota Tercel?
its a '93, 5 speed, FWD. there is nothing really wrong with it, but i just want to like.. mess around under the hood and stuff. what should i do?

Put a fresh set of platinum or iridium spark plugs in it. Don't mess with this engine. It's engineered to do just what it is doing and that's why it still runs, and will keep going on and on. Save your money for a nice stereo and a new clutch. You might replace the cambelt if you haven't done that yet.
