take all the bolts out of the cover, carefully work a wide flat head screw driver in on side and twist a bit, do not damage the surfaces where the gasket is, so do not jam the screw driver into the gasket, just slip it into one side twist a bit, then the other, it should break loose have something that holds a few quarts of stinky fluid, make sure there is no piles of metal shavings or anything, there is a magnet in some diff that will collect metal, that's what its for, just wipe every thing clean buy a new gasket and some blu rtv if needed put the sealer on the cover after making sure its clean then the gasket , let it sit flat until the sealer sets up, I only do one side usually but I don't work on toyota If you are going to work on yours, get a shop manual please. tighten up all the bolts first finger tight then do a few threads at a time on one side, then across to the other but tighten evenly across all surfaces, do not crank one side down, then the other, make it even all the way around.
