91 Toyota Camry, 240,000mi questions?

Is gas w/eth ok or without? Oil grade? Best for summer/winter? 10W30, 10W40, SAE30,....? What's the difference? Vicosity? Heat? Age of car? Thank you.

Ethanol gas is fine. I've always run 10/40 in the summer and 10/30 in the winter in my elderly toyotas. I live in a cold climate. I'd go to an even heavier oil in the summer if it is using any oil. I've owned 2 4runners, 2 corollas, a Tacoma, and a Paseo.

Running ethanol on an old car wouldnt be to wise especially one with 240K

Ethanol wasnt even thought of to be put in cars back then. So you might not

want to risk it even though it does help the environment barely. Difference between

10W30 and 10W40 is the thickness. Higher the number the thicker the oil.

Does the car leak oil? I used to use 20W50 in my 89 Camry 4 cylinder because

of oil leaks.

the ethanol found in pump gas in fine for any vehicle. 10/30 or 10/40 per book. 10/30 below 90F. 10/40 above. even at that mileage. conventional, blends, or synthetic. doesn't matter.

the higher the number, the thicker the oil.

the first number, 10, is the weight/thickness cold. second number, 30 or 40, is when it's hot. straight 30 is that thick cold or hot and wont get the oil to places quick enough at cold starts.

owner 89 tercel 210,000. 93 toy pu 4x4 203,000. no issues. 10/30 for both all year around.
