2000 corolla ce. factory stereo with cd player.?

Default 2000 corolla ce. factory stereo with cd player.?
Has a CD function button, owners manual shows four models, mine included, gives me directions to operate the CD's once in the stereo, but I cant find the slot I know how crazy this sounds. The name of the steroe says right on the front "compact disc digital stereo. I gave the trunk a once over. any help is appreciated

The cassette unit can be added to the dash and plugged in the head unit and controlled by it. My 98 Corolla CE has the CD button too, but the car has no CD player, just a cassette andstereo radio.
