Can a toyota 2.2 L four cylinder engine be swapped for a 1.8 L engine in a 1998 toyota corolla?

Default Can a toyota 2.2 L four cylinder engine be swapped for a 1.8 L engine in a 1998 toyota corolla?
Recently bought a corolla with a bad engine, but have a wrecked camry with a decent engine and transmission. Both are 4 cylinder engines from the 1998 model year. Any help from experience or a shot in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.















And as an alternative I know someone with a wrecked 1995 corolla with a 1.6 L engine that i can buy. But i don't know about compatibility between any of these engines.

yes you can you will just need new motor mounts.

Its possible if the 2.2 L will be able to fit in the engine bay.















Then you need to fabricate the motor mounts. Its all possible















though just need to know first hand if the engine will fit in the















engine bay.

I wouldn't try unless you can bolt the 2.2 to the Corolla gearbox as I know that the Camry drive shafts are both longer and thicker than corolla. I think the 1.6 would be the better choice but even so, when you start mixing and matching engines like this you can run into all sorts of unexpected problems.
