Is it safe to buy a Toyota Corolla from 1993?

Default Is it safe to buy a Toyota Corolla from 1993?
This car just passed inspection. It has 202,000 miles on it.















I am looking to buy this car, and I was warned that it is probably not safe to buy a car that old, but I also heard that Toyota Corollas are very good cars.

Look i even know the answer and im a kid. It depends on the condition it is in and if it has ever been in a crash or if the car has been serviced. flood damage can really hurt a car and mess with the airbags. so it's not up to the car it's the previous owner.

Toyota has a reputation of making vehicles that last. I own 2 of them; a 2002 Echo and a 2009 Corolla. the older one has close to 90k miles on it and it runs beautifully. A friend of mine has a 1990 Camry that has close to 200k miles and she has had no problems with it.































I don't know what your financial situation is like, but it may be best to check out a Toyota dealer and try to make a deal on a newer model that has lesser miles on it. Maybe, depending on your credit score, you may get a car with little or no down payment or small monthly payments.































Depending on what you're getting the car for this situation may vary. If you plan on doing a lot of commuting I say get a later model car. If this is just a secondary, back-up car and the price is right for you, then go with the Corolla.

Well the car does have seat belts but that's about it for crash protection. I'm a big fan of the Toyota Corolla but with 202,000 miles and being a 1992 keep in mind that a lot of stuff is going to wear out. If safety and fuel economy is a concern of yours then I would suggest passing on this Corolla and think about getting something newer.

It's always a gamble buying a used. If you don't pass through the middle of nowhere or a seedy neighborhood where an old car might break down then go for it.
