Whatever the stock offset is is what you want. Why? because the correct offset and backspacing aligns the tire centerline with the wheel bearing centerline, hence wrong offset will burn through wheel bearings faster as they are improperly loaded.
It also changes the steering geometry so the car might not track straight, the steering might not center properly, and you increase the chance for bump-steer.
