Default Does this Celica have too many miles on it?
I am looking at a 2001 Toyota Celica with 186,000 miles and it is a stick shift. It has so many miles because the owner is military so he moves to installations. He is asking 3000. Do you think it would last me 3 or 4 more years to finish school or not worth it?































Would it be worth talking him down to 2000 dollars and put a new transmission it it?

Check the Blue Book value and have a mechanic take a look at it first, but it sounds like a good price to me.































It also depends on how far your commute to school is.

Buy an Accent (2000 or later) with like 80 000 km on it for that much. Toyota and Honda are overrated, and way too expensive, especially the newer ones.

186,000 miles a second is the speed light travels at and the speed you should travel in the opposite direction of that car. If you put a new transmission on it it would cost at least $1000 and still be a high mileage crock.

It should be good to go for quite a while yet with a new transmission. 186k is getting up there though.

id snatch that car up in a second. those are highway miles so that car really only has about 125,000 miles on it. ask if the timing belt and head gasket has been replaced if so ask for a receipt or some kind of documentation. keep oil in it dont let it over heat and that car will be fine many more years. if you dont want it ill take it.
