Default when did toyota solve engine oil usage probs on vvti engine?
thinking of buying a toyota corolla but read on forums customers complaining about oil burning problems on earlier models was the problem ever sorted out? toyota brought out a newer model in 2004 is this one the one to buy?

It wasn't a usage issue just a leaking hose and on the V6 engines only.

I owned a 2003 Toyota Corolla and it never burned any oil. I haven't heard any reports/problems that the new Corolla has issues with burning oil. My 2003 was the first year of the new(er) body style and the new(er) 1.8 liter engine with VVT-i technology. Of course, I changed engine oil every 3k to 4k miles and never had any issues with the car. It was, so far, the best car I've owned.
