The car has a clean carfax and seems okay. And yes I have seen KBB and edmunds. But trying to gauge the folk wisdom

Well, most folk use the KBB wisdom or thereabouts. The mileage is low for that year. If it's in excellent condition otherwise and only had one owner, it could be on the higher end. If it's a private party, the lowest price. They come in around 11,000 - but that seems high for a six-year old car. 9,000 sounds about right.
