What is the difference between "4" gear and D gear on Toyota Camry?

Default What is the difference between "4" gear and D gear on Toyota Camry?
I am driving a 2009 Toyota Camry and am curious to see what the difference between "4" and "D" is. Their right next to each other. When do I use 4th gear?

In 4, it will not let the transmission shift past 4th gear. In Drive with the O/D (overdrive) off, it will not shift past 5th. In Drive, it uses all 6 gears. These options are used to downshift the car going down hills and such.
