check engine light....?

Default check engine light....?
We have a 2007 Toyota Corolla with 21,000 miles on it.































Today out of no where the check engine light turned on. The car was normal just this morning with no problems. Now when you turn it on, the car won't start up or just start then shut down itself in like 10secs. I am wondering if anyone knows what the problem is or what else it could be? I don't want to get the car towed from my house then take it to the dealer.































I looked online and most forums say check the fuel cap and I did look at that. The fuel cap is tighten up. x_x

Im no mechanic but it sounds like your starter motor might be dying or your battery is dead. Call the dealership and tell them what is happening and they might get it towed for you just ask them what they can do.

Could be the sensor itself is bad.

Recheck the time to shutdown after you give it three tries or so. If they are all precisely some number, like 10 seconds or 15 seconds, the ECU probably does not believe the engine is running and is turning off the fuel pump to prevent a big fire. The most likely cause of that is a bad cam sensor, but you will need to get the code read to know. If you are in the continental US but not California, you can borrow a code reader for free from your local AutoZone. It could be a bad crank sensor instead but that should prevent the engine from firing at all. Anyway, the code will reveal all.

You need OBDII code scanner to tell you what the problem is. It is either sensor or just plain loose gas cap.

LIke the others said, check the code to find the problem area. The cam sensor advice sounds logical.

It's hard to tell , doesnt the car have warranty ? with such low mileage , You should just take it to toyota and get it scanned , it will tell you right away
