how can i bypass the 02 sensor?

i cut off my catalytic converted in now my check engine light is on, I live in FL no emission inspection .

on a toyota camry 98 v6

why i did was because i had a code p0420

you need to trick the sensor

touch both wires or something

Thats a difficult process, trying to mimic the original wiring may not work because the sensor wont read out. I'd recommend doing some research, I've heard this more than once, haha. Idk why you did that on a Camry. I've seen it done to a Superduty to gain back horsepower, but the Camry isn't made like that. Either way, cuttin that off makes the computer freak out. If the car still drives fine, then just ignore the light

There is no proper way to do it - you now have a permanent check engine light because it does not see the O2 sensor, which is an active device, and it is not showing the proper O2 level.

If you put the catalytic converter back in and find the cause of the P0420 code (in a 13 year old car it is very unlikely to be a bad converter) you can straighten everything out. In V6 Camrys exhaust leaks often cause the P0420 code. You should be aware that removing the converter is a federal offense, and if the EPA starts doing roadside inspections you can be looking at a $10,000 - $25,000 fine if the converter is missing.

You DON'T cure malfunctions by getting out a hacksaw and cutting parts off, especially something like the oxy sensor, which will have a major effect on driveability.

You can't afford to fix a car, you shouldn't drive one.
