every 2004 toyota that iv seen has a belt and an interference motor which means it blows up it the belt snaps get it replaced at 90k if you cant check it out yourself to see if its ok

Most 2004 Toyota's still have timing belts, which one are you asking about?

Toyotas went all chains in either 04 or 05 model year. Most have had timing chains since the mid to late '90s. Also, most models with timing belts are non interference so you don't have to worry about engine damage if the belt breaks. There actually very few Toyotas that had interference engines compared to those with non-interference.
