Is the Prius Plug-in being held off because of the Tsunami in Japan?

I imagine it's on hold due to ineffectiveness. They've been trying with this electric car crap for years.

Oil costs money. Electric costs money. If we drive electric cars....you know what the electric companies are going to do?

Raise the price of electricity.

Traditionally, a new Prius model comes out after the August factory holidays. That makes the new models hit the West Coast starting in mid-October and other areas a few weeks later.

Generally, you can count on "the guy at the dealership" to say whatever comes to mind first. Because they make more commission on cars sitting on the lot, they typically say anything that might make you settle for something in stock.

They are not making new models because of the fact there are no resources in Japan right now. Just like Honda they were suppose to start making the 2012 Civics but cannot because of parts shortage so they will extend the 2011 Civics out till the end of the year. The Plug in Prius will come but your going to have to wait until Japanese car makers get back up on there feet. Toyota is doing the same thing there going to drag out 2011 till the end of the year. 2012 models should already be in production but will not be until the end of the year. Its sad yes but with rolling blackouts and parts not being built theres not much they can do. But theyll have them just got to wait
