What's the problem with this car's paint?

Default What's the problem with this car's paint?

It's more white-smeary than chipped. Is it the clear coat? How do you fix it? Would it need a full paint job?

The clear coat is turning white and eroding away.































There's no easy way to fix it without sanding the entire vehicle and repainting. The good news is that the color coat looks like it's hanging in there pretty well, so all they need to do is get through the clear coat and repaint (i.e. no need to sand to bare metal and prime).

The UV rays from the sun have degraded the clear coat on your roof and trunk lid. You fix it by having those two panels sanded down and repainted. You will not need a full paint job, but you will need to paint the quarter panels to get a good paint match.
