It CAN affect fuel mileage and reduce engine power a small amount, but as far as I'M concerned, I would rather reach my destination cool and calm than sweaty and P/O'd
If your driving in the city and got a lot of stop and go traffic then it would affect gas and you would probably notice the difference big time. Highway driving is different your not doing stop and go so your engine is not going to be doing hard work and you wont notice much of a gas difference. They have said that driving with windows open on the highway wastes more gas because of the drafts. MY suggestion drive with windows down while in town and let the a/c rip while on the highway
