I hate to break it to you, but heater cores are expensive. Mainly because in order to get at the heater core you have to remove the entire dashboard, all the way down to the firewall (the metal partition between the passenger compartment and the engine bay). Then and only then can they replace the faulty part.















Due to the massive amount of work involved, the labor costs are going to be pretty high, since it usually takes anywhere from 1 to 4 hours to remove the dash.
