93 toyota camry starter?

Default 93 toyota camry starter?
could anyone explain the easiest way to replace my starter in my 93 camry? also i've heard about tapping the starter while someone turns the key but isnt the starter buried pretty deep in the engine? how could i go about trying that?

Well it is kind of buried under the battery, battery box and probably the cruise control box. Tapping the starter might work to help a faulty solenoid or brushes make contact. There is an electrically HOT post on the battery so be careful where you tap not to cross the hot terminal to ground or the sparks will fly! Unless you want to be tapping on your starter all over town - you better just install a rebuilt one.

The old "hammer" trick is a way of getting the thing started so you can either drive to a repair shop, or home to FIX it.































It is not meant to be a way of extending the life of a starter for another year or two.































My own son pulled this on me once....."hey, dad, I need you to drive out here (30 miles) and help me get my car home. It wont start)































I said "sorry pal. You've known for MONTHS that you needed to replace the starter and didn't do it. Instead, you wasted money partying and so forth, so I'm not available today........or tomorrow .....or at all"
