How do i know if i need a new axle or a new CV boot?
I have a 2003 Toyota Highlander base 2.4L 4 cylinder FWD. When i am going into a turn, it sound like it is knocking. Please help me, i do not want anything bad to happen!!!!!
If you hear a "clicking" sound when turning it is usually a bad CV joint. CV joints are pretty tough. They have a rubber boot over them. Sometime the rubber boot gets ripped allowing water and dirt in which ruins the CV joint. Bring it to a garage you trust, they'll be able to fix it. It's not a cheap part(joint): http://www.dealerdirectparts.com/200...10-highl-4.htm
The CV joint is packed with grease, and when the boot cracks or tears, all the grease is thrown out and the joint is exposed to the elements, causing it to wear out soon after. If it's making noise, it's probably going to need replacement.
