what do the plugs tell ya. rich/lean? check the power valve and accelerator pump.
what do you mean "looses pressure". no balls?
whats the condition of the t-chain? pull distributor cap, rock crank, the rotor should turn/report instantly. any degree of movement on the crank w/o an immediate report indicates a t-chain replacement.
lastly check out the distributor fly weights, vacuum diaphragm, and shaft bushings. the air gap on the pu coil should be .2-.4mm. if it's out, the distributor needs replacing as the bushings are not serviceable. the pu coil and ignitor fail out right. so prolly not an issue.
primary coil resistance is .4-.5 ohms. secondary is 8.5-11.5 ohms. can't check coils dynamically as heat skews ohms. but if you're not pinging, it's prolly not the issue.
FYI, you prolly know,
the 22R being a short stroke has, on the best of days, a little trouble with highway speeds already. combined with low compression pressures on that old of a block, even if they were uniform, will effect it more. but you still shouldn't hesitate.
