2000 Toyota Celica GT-S Questions...?

Hey guys.































I recently purchased a used 2000 Toyota celica gt-s, it has about 160,000 on it. (i got a very good deal)















Anyways, ive been driving it for about 3 weeks now and recently i noticed that there is a whinning noise coming from the engine, When i accelerate its like a whistling sound that comes and it gets louder as my rpms go up. However, when i disengage the gear, press the clutch, the sound seems to go away or be lower. The sound also seems to be lower when i put the car into neutral, and there is no sound when im completely stopped.































Second question, this car isnt going into gear properly. For example, when i take off it goes into gear fine then sometimes, even when i completely press the clutch, the it goes into 2nd gear very difficult. Sometimes it makes a grinding sound and sometimes it doesnt. But after that, 3rd+ gears go in fine, its just that second and first gear sometimes. Also, whenever i try downshiffting becasue of a turn or downhill, it will not go into lower gears, i even try double clutching ( pressing the clutch once and putting into neutral, than pressing clutch again and putting into the following gear). I'm guessing that would be teh synchro that wont let me, becasue if it wont let me put it in 1st or 2nd it lets me put it in 3rd+ gears. But its only at turns or roundabouts, somtimes takeoffs, when the gear wont shift easily or normally into 1st or second gear.
