Is a 1989 turbo supra a good/fast car?

Is a 89 turbo supra a nice car to mod up and is it fast?

Seriously, though, Toyota's are pretty reliable, but getting parts for one that's 22 years old could get expensive.

Even in clean, stock condition, they can be wicked fast, great handling, and sharp looking. I would like to have a nice one for myself. A car that old should have engine and tranny rebuilt before adding modifications, though. Bolt on horespower increases risk turning the drive train into scrap metal. Count on spending a LOT of money.

Absolutely! The 89 supra is a car that can be easily modded, and has a ton of potential. I believe they came with the 1JZ motor, which if you put enough money into can produce over 700 hp! And if you really wanna go all out, the 2JZ from the Mark IV Supra can be swapped in (although I believe you will need a stand alone engine management unit), and that motor has been developed to over 1200 HP!

The one big piece of advice I can give you for your car is to know what you want it to be when you are done with it. Decide early on if you want it to be a show car, drag racer, drifter, time attack, daily driver, whatever. Once you have a goal in mind, work towards it instead of just throwing random parts at it and hoping for the best, and you will be much happier with the way it turns out.
