1996 Toyota Tercel Battery Charging Light went on then engine started to overheat upon being driven?
The Battery Charging Light went on and stayed on. When the car was driven the engine started to overheat. The car quickly heated up and the coolant cap popped off and spilled all over the place.
I looked at the belts. When the car was off I gave the belt to the alternator a tug and it seemed tight. When the car was running the belts were turning just fine. It doesn't seem to me like there would be any reason for the car not to be charging. I checked this morning and the coolant in the reserve was empty. I dont know how it could of gotten empty when i dumped a lot of water yesterday to make it a mile to my house. I checked under the car if there was any leak and i dont seem to see any coolant leak at all. Battery light is still on even if i turn on the car now. This battery is new so i know its not the battery. Please help!
