Waht Could Be Causing A Squeak On Start Up On A 2003 Toyota Highlander 2.4L 4 Cylinder?

Default Waht Could Be Causing A Squeak On Start Up On A 2003 Toyota Highlander 2.4L 4 Cylinder?
I own a 2003 Toyota Highlander and on rainy or humid days, there is a squeak when I start it up. It DOES NOT do it when it is NOT humid, or when the engine is warm. What could it be? I was told it was the water pump, but it I do NOT think it is the water pump because the engine does NOT over heat. Could someone please tell me what this is? PLEASE! Thanks.

I think its just water somewhere and when you turn your car on, it moves fast and creates that squeaking noise

it could be the belt for the water pump, as that same belt can run lots of other things depending on the type of car or truck.































another clue it might be a (cheap and easy) belt fix is you say it only makes the noise when you start, and DEFINITELY MAKES BELT NOISE WHEN THEY ARE WET OR WHAT NOT.































Check the belt and make sure its not loose AT ALL, and also make sure its on the track 100% because sometimes they slip off and that can cause big problems for you down the road.... big time.































but yeah, check your belts Id say

I'm 80% sure it is the serpentine belt slipping on the alternator. At 8 years old the belt is due for replacement (along with the tensioner - see the first source for details). The alternator has highest drag at start-up when it is trying to recharge the battery from the heavy load of starting. Belt squealing is often worse in high humidity, when oil and other glop on the surface gets slick. As the first source explains, modern belts look the same when worn out as when new. Your 2003 Highlander also has a TSB (EG021-07 - see second source) out on it for a faulty tensioner so be sure that part is updated.

Could be a number of things. i would say it is some kind of belt.
