The Access Cab has small, rear-hinged rear doors in the extended part of the cab to help with access. In the 2nd-generation Tacoma (2005 and newer), all the extended cab trucks are Access Cabs with opening rear doors. The Crew/Double Cab is an even longer cab configuration with 4 full-sized, front-hinged doors and a roomier rear seat.
For the 1st generation of Tacoma (1995.5 to 2004), there were no rear doors in the extended cab. This is the Xtra-cab. Only the Crew/Double Cab (2001-2004) of the 1st generation Tacoma has 4 doors.
These designations are often mixed up in sales listings.
