Celica won't switch gears ?

Default Celica won't switch gears ?
I have a 2000 Toyota Celica, Its manual, I can change all the gears when it's off but when I start it I can't put it to any gears. If I try to put it in reverse it makes a grinding sound. What could it be?

i just had this problem with my honda and it was my clutch so you may want to check that or the hydraulic lines within the clutch
