Certainly--you can do a lot with open diffs. You can use finesse and careful tire placement and line-finding to maintain traction on difficult trails. You can also use a little parking brake to fool the open diff into sending power to the opposite tire sometimes.
One great modification is to install a separate brake handle for each back parking brake. Then you will have cutting brakes like a farm tractor. If one back tire starts to spin, just apply the brake on that wheel and the differential will send power to the other tire.
